Taanya Lewis

Taanya is an experienced Family Law Barrister who knows how to handle the intricacies of parenting and complex property matters. Her practical approach and deep understanding of the law translate into real-life solutions, simplifying what can often be a complicated process.

This praise is not expressed by Taanya herself, but by Doyle’s Listing, an internationally recognised online publication that endorses her competency by rating her as Adelaide’s ‘Market leader’ barrister since 2022.

Earlier, Doyle’s acknowledged Taanya as a ‘Preeminent’ barrister in 2017 and in each subsequent year.

Taanya is proud to be one of the co-founders of Elizabeth Evatt Chambers, now a renowned barristers’ chambers on 75 Angas Street Adelaide, only a short walk on the same street to the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.

Taanya’s in service approach enables her to connect with her clients whilst they traverse the difficult post separation litigation pathway. Taanya’s vast experience in Family Law enables her to explain the law clearly and supportively to her clients while being a strong and skilful advocate, ensuring the best possible outcomes.

Beyond being a barrister, Taanya is also a seasoned mediator. She assists clients in resolving complex disputes, often avoiding the need for trial. It’s part of Taanya’s holistic approach – dealing with the legalities while helping minimise the emotional and financial stress that can come with court proceedings. She completed the AIFLAM (Australian Institute of Family Law Arbitrators and Mediators) course in 2013.

Taanya’s academic qualifications are a Bachelor of Arts (Jurisprudence), and a Bachelor of Law, awarded by the University of Adelaide in 1992 and 1994, respectively. Taanya completed the Graduate Certificate in Law at the University of South Australia in 1995.

Since becoming a solicitor in 1994 and being called to the bar in 2002, Taanya continues to serve the profession with her involvement on several Family Law committees and associations:

  • Taanya became the Chair of the Family Law Sub Committee of the South Australian Bar Association in 2021
