Mark Bryce Anderson

Mark is a highly experienced Family Law Barrister and Arbitrator working at the well-respected Elizabeth Evatt Chambers since January 2020. He has been successfully practising law since 2002, first in commercial practice for large firms in Adelaide and Melbourne, before serendipity redirected him into practising Family Law.

Subsequently, he left behind the tremendously lucrative world of commercial law for the emotionally charged practice of advocating for clients to settle marital disputes in the Federal Cricut and Family Court of South Australia.

Mark says, “The Family Law jurisdiction is incredibly challenging”. Nevertheless, he continues to accept the challenge, having evolved into one of Adelaide’s most expert, in-demand barristers, and registered arbitrators, and in a recent interview, he stated that the rewards from practising Family Law outshine the daily challenges that come with the job.

After leaving commercial litigation at Anthony Mason Chambers, Mark joined John Bray Chambers in 2009, solely focusing on Family Law. After the closure of John Bray, he took up professional residence at Campbell Chambers and practised Family Law there until joining Elizabeth Evatt Chambers.

Qualifications

Mark holds a Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice, graduating from Flinders University in 2002 before being admitted to practice in the same year. In addition, he has a Bachelor of International Studies, a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, and a Diploma in Languages. He signed the Bar Roll in 2009.

Other barristers sharing chambers at EEC are sometimes his courtroom opponents. Nevertheless, they respect his conduct, advocacy, and expert knowledge. Contrastingly, he welcomes new barristers and lawyers to the profession, sharing his knowledge and mentoring them in the intricacies and nuances of this highly emotional legal sector. Madeleine Betro, another barrister sharing chambers with Mark, acknowledges the excellent mentoring she received from him upon joining EEC.
